Accessibility update: Color Contrast improvements for the Default Theme
Overview
Accessibility is a topic we care deeply about here at Beefree, and as part of our ongoing commitment to make the Beefree Builder accessible to everyone, we’re updating Beefree’s Default Theme to use higher-contrast colors:

This new theme meets accessibility best practices and improves the builder’s usability for everyone—all while giving the editor UI a more modern look.
All plans without a Custom Theme will be automatically migrated to the new, accessible Default Theme according to the following schedule:
- RC applications: October 30, 2025
- General Release (Essentials, Core, and Superpowers): November 6, 2025
- Delayed Release (Enterprise): November 13, 2025
We recommend enabling and testing the theme in advance so you can review how it looks and make any adjustments before the transition.
How to preview the new Color Theme
You can enable the new Color Theme by taking the following steps:
- Log in to the Beefree SDK Developer Console.
- Navigate to the application you'd like to enable it for.
- Select Details.
- Check the Apply the new accessible theme option and save your configuration.
The new accessible theme will be applied to your application's builder.
FAQ
I am using a Custom Theme. Am I impacted by this change?
No. If you’re using a Custom Theme to customize the look of your editor, this change won’t affect your integration. The change only applies if you have no theme selected (and are thus using Beefree’s default theme).
I am using Custom CSS to customize the look of the editor. Am I impacted by this change?
If you’re using Custom CSS to customize all colors in the editor’s UI, this change will not have any impact on your application.
That said, though, if you don’t specify certain colors in your CSS, the editor will pick up the colors from the updated default theme. For example, if you don't use CSS to target the primary accent color, your app is picking up the default accent color from our Default Theme. This color would change from light blue to a darker shade of blue as we roll out this change.
How can I customize the editor’s colors?
The Beefree SDK gives you full control over the editor’s look and feel, so you can match your app’s design. Here’s how you can make sure the editor feels like a native part of your application:
-
Build your own color theme (Core plans and above)
With our Custom Themes, you can decide which brand colors and fonts you’d like to use in the editor UI to make sure the editor fits seamlessly into your application.

-
Fully customize the editor’s look with Custom CSS (Superpowers and above)
Go beyond simple color and font changes and control every aspect of the editor’s design with Custom CSS. Whether you want to use custom content block icons, hide sidebar elements, or make other more advanced adjustments, Custom CSS gives you the flexibility you need.
