Usage Guide
- Begin by opening the builder where the OpenAI Addon is integrated.
- Insert or navigate to a content block where you want to create content. This could be a paragraph, title, list, or button.
- Click on the block and select 'Write with AI' from the sidebar
- Enter your prompt and/or select a preset, as discussed below.
- Click 'Generate'
- The AI will provide copy based on your input.
Utilizing Preset Suggestions
To simplify the content creation process, the OpenAI Addon provides a series of preset suggestions. These suggestions will appear when you're creating the first iteration of a prompt or editing an existing text block. Here's how to use them:
- Click on the content block you wish to edit. For example, select a paragraph, list, title, or button block.
- Choose the 'Write with AI' option.
- Click on the area where prompts are added, and a dropdown menu with preset suggestions will appear.
- Select a preset prompt that suits your needs. For example, if you're working with a paragraph, you might select 'Make it [tone] without changing the format'.
- Click 'Generate'. The AI will provide a revised copy that aligns with your selected preset suggestion.
Please note, presets can be disabled if you want to always craft custom prompts to meet your specific needs.
Reviewing and Editing Generated Content
The OpenAI Addon ensures you maintain control over the generated content. Each time the AI provides a suggestion, you can review and edit it to align perfectly with your needs.
1. After the AI generates a suggestion, review the text in the content block.
2. Make any necessary edits directly within the block.
3. Repeat the generation process as needed until the text suits your requirements.
Creating Custom Prompts
The OpenAI Addon provides an advanced feature that allows you to create custom prompts. These are ideal when you have specific needs that presets cannot meet. Here's how to use them:
1. Click on the content block you wish to edit.
2. Select the 'Write with AI' option.
3. In the prompt area, type a custom prompt instead of selecting a preset. For example, you can input: "Summarize this paragraph in a formal tone."
4. Click 'Generate'. The AI will provide a revised copy that aligns with your custom prompt.
Remember, this feature is designed to cater to your unique content creation needs. Feel free to experiment with different custom prompts until you find the ones that work best for you.
Understanding Tokens in OpenAI
In the context of OpenAI, tokens are essentially chunks of text that the AI reads and writes. A token can be as short as one character or as long as one word (e.g., 'a', 'apple'). The total number of tokens in an API call affects how long the API call takes, how much it costs, and whether it works at all based on the maximum limit of tokens (4096 tokens for gpt-3.5-turbo).
When generating a response, both the input and output tokens count toward these quantities. For example, if you use 10 tokens in your message and the model's response is 20 tokens, you'll be billed for 30 tokens.
For more detailed pricing information related to tokens and usage, please visit the OpenAI Pricing Page. This will provide a breakdown of costs associated with the use of tokens in the OpenAI Addon.
Monitoring Usage with the OpenAI Addon
Host application administrators may enable a token counter. This counter displays the number of tokens used versus the number available. This feature can be enabled to help monitor and manage AI usage effectively.
With the counter enabled, you'll see the number of tokens used and available next to the 'Generate' button.
